Wine and food pairing is an art and matching bubbly to a braai is certainly one of the more unusual culinary innovations that the Grande Roche Hotel has perfected. This popular event returns on 1 February, 2014 and welcomes the month of love.
And who doesnot love a glass of our very own Cape Bubbles – the toast to every occasion. Paired with South Africa’s famous cooking tradition this is an evening of unusual and sensory tastes.
Executive Chef, Roland Gorgosilich, and his team use their culinary skills to conjure up a veritable feast of delectable seafood, traditional steaks and much more accompanied by a range of traditional salads and deliciously different side dishes. Using their creative talents this is an evening that you won’t want to miss as you are introduced to the sizzling sensations of the braai and some glorious bubbles. The lawns of the hotel will be transformed into a ‘Bubbly wine route’ that will definitely tingle the tastebuds and set the tone for the evening ahead.
At this event guests will be able to enjoy both an Italian Prosecco range and a South African range of Methode Cap Classique wines. The superb wine making skills of Bottega, the Italian producer of Prosecco, will be showcased. Prosecco is an aromatic vine stock which gives origin to a kind of wine which expresses happiness and poetry and, with names like gold, black and diamond, this unique range will certainly be savoured.
Closer to home, the.Domaine des Dieux boutique winery in the Hemel-en-Aarde region, offers a pink and a white MCC. Add to this, female winemaker Melissa Nelsen’s delightful Genevieve MCC, and the bubbles will be flowing as guests enjoy the tasty treats from the braai.
The evening will be both informal and informative as guests get the opportunity to meet the winemakers while enjoying the finely crafted sparkling wines.
